WASDEN: DEBT PROBLEM CAN ONLY WORSEN
“Blessed are the young, for they shall inherit the national debt.” – Herbert Hoover
While Congress and the President will find no shortage of issues in the coming year that will require their attention, one that needs to be front and center is our nation’s crippling debt. While here in Colorado we have experienced low unemployment rates and a strong economic recovery, that doesn’t dampen the fact that the national debt is a serious, crippling issue we must address.
WASDEN: PRIMARY MISSION IS JOB CREATION
Too often, politics hamper the ability of businesses to expand and put Americans to work. What used to be an important bipartisan reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank has now fallen firmly in the crosshairs of some members of the GOP. Charges of crony capitalism and big governmental overreach flow freely from opposition tongues. “Let the private sector fill that space in the market. Those big companies don’t need the Ex-Im Bank, they can get capital on their own,” scream critics.
WASDEN: WASHINGTON HAS FAILED TO LEAD ON THIS ISSUE
America is a nation built of immigrants and governed by the rule of law. But currently, our broken immigration system is completely failing at enforcing our existing laws, at securing our nation’s borders, and at providing a usable guest worker program that meets the needs of American businesses. Reform is long overdue! We need to enact an immigration solution that will strengthen our borders and national security, while getting the skilled and necessary workforce to the very companies that want to grow their businesses and stay competitive in a growing global economy.
