Letters to the Editor

LETTER: Question to ponder: “If we can send a man to the moon… why can’t we send them all?”

Dear Editor,

Newt may be onto something with his idea of US occupation of the moon. Gingrich used the term “colonization” but that sounds rather-British to me. But just imagine if every member of Congress had to be brave enough to blast off to visit the moon and gaze down at our fragile planet. Imagine what John Lennon (author of the song Imagine) would think of this idea.

As any innovator knows, there are few good ideas which are new and few new ideas which are fully vetted.

I purchased a lapel pin for my feminist-sister while covering the Republican National Convention (photojournalist for The Colorado Statesman in 1988. The campaign button asked the question; “If we can send a man to the moon… why can’t we send them all?” Of course that would be sexist.

We should send all politicians for ten days, starting with Nancy Pelosi.

What would John Kennedy think of that?
